Here is a collection of other stories that I have written based upon traveling to our favorite little scorpion infested island.
I love to write, but I am really not much for writing trip reports. Although I do enjoy reading them, writing anything called a report reminds me too much of school or work.
The closest thing to a trip report that I have ever written was the collection of stories that tell the tale of our first trip to Isla Mujeres. On subsequent trips I didn't feel compelled to chronical the entire vacation, however I have written a few stories inspired by the journey. Here, I am presenting those stories to you.
From our trip to Isla in the fall of 2002, there is a trilogy consisting of The Departure, In Pursuit of Harmony, and Paradise Regained. These stories tell the tale of getting to the island and achieving the nirvana that we know as being in "Isla mode".
Events of our trip in June of 2003 inspired me to write CAUTION! THE MOVING WALKWAY IS ENDING!, It’s a Small World, and A Happy Face in the Sand. Also from that trip, I put together two short series of photos about Early Morning Isla, and Isla at Sunset.
In the fall of 2003, we arrived on Isla Mujeres for a few days after a totally relaxing stay on Isla Holbox. Recalling having been way deep into “Isla mode” before we even got to IM, I put together a little tale of doing nothing on our first morning, entitled Isla--The Time Warp.
During our stay on the island in the summer of 2004, I had noticed more cruise ships in the bay than before, and could not help but think that it was the portent of even more development of the tourism industry on the island. Several days after we returned home, I had a funny dream one morning and wrote Brave New Isla.
I hope that you all enjoy these little stories.
